ASN Critical Care Nephrology is for trainees, working nephrologists, and other physicians who treat critically ill renal patients. The course covers critical care nephrology fundamentals and updates learners on the current advancements. The sessions include critical care medicine subjects vital to nephrologists. Hemodynamic monitoring and support, fluid optimization, extracorporeal sepsis treatments, ethics, dysnatremias, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and COVID-19 management are examples.
Managing critically ill AKI patients, particularly pregnant women and those with liver disease, heart failure, or cancer, is also covered. The program also discusses the short- and long-term implications of AKI, how to treat patients with AKI and continued dialysis, and RRT prescription variables. Presentations often use instructive examples.
Goals of ASN Critical Care Nephrology:
After ASN Critical Care Nephrology, participants can:
- Evidence-based shock management
- Examine AKI diagnosis and therapy in cardiorenal syndrome, liver disease, pregnancy, hypertensive emergencies, and cancer patients.
- Discuss ICU COVID-19 management.
- Assess AKI biomarker clinical evidence.
- Examine the evidence for extracorporeal sepsis treatment.
- Studying AKI survivors’ long-term problems.
- Optimizing RRT dosage and prescription for critically ill AKI patients.
