In surgical pathology, head and neck pathology is common. Up to 53% of diagnoses are changed (including 7% with major alterations) following reevaluation at tertiary care hospitals, making this field difficult for community pathologists.
Recent advances in head and neck pathology compound the problem. Molecular modifications specific to the disorder, new entities, and significant diagnostic categorization scheme changes have been reported. Many of these suggestions were incorporated into the current Head & Neck Pathology Updates 2018 released.
